Frustrated Over Your Job Loss?

Laid off from your present job?
The job search is harder than ever in this economy.

You need a plan that will work and fast. If you must, take a day or two to grieve the loss of your present job. You worked hard there, gave them your best. Now you must grieve the job loss if you are to set a plan in motion to move forward.

Now take some time to sit down and write out the many skills you used on this job on a piece of paper. Ask yourself, who hires a person with these skills? Now make a list of employers who hire someone with your skills to contact. If you've been employed for awhile you probably haven't had to worry to much about updating a resume or even having one written up. You will need a list of your last 3 jobs and dates plus other information to include on it as well as for filling out employment applications.

You will also need to write cover letters for some of the resumes you submit and have a good list of references. You may also need to have your resume in a good form for emailing to potential employers. Be ready for interviews with proper interview etiquette and proper dress for interviews.

So much to do but now you are ready. Get back out there and search for new employment. You found your last job, you can find another one. Yes it is hard but you can do it!

I highly recommend the book "What Color Is Your Parachute?" as I've used it many years in my own job searches and for helping clients in the past to find out what type of work they really wanted to do. This guy starts from the ground up and has a solid plan for finding exactly the type of work you'd best be suited to do. The price of the book is nominal compared to the benefits reaped!
